September 2018: Playground is closed over safety concerns, no fun!

Please be advised that the children’s play set and table set located in the community playground area are officially closed and off limits due to: broken, rusty and sharp metal portion of the structure.

This play set has exceeded its expected lifetime and is in need of replacement instead of maintenance.

What’s next?

  1. The HOA board has decided in The October 3rd meeting to remove the structure to maintain a green safe play area.
  2. We are obtaining quotes for several replacement ideas for review and consideration at the next board meeting. We are not jumping to replace it due to variability in ideas, costs, and the current need in the community. Have an idea? Share it with the board here and participate at the next board meeting November 13th, 2018.

  1. There are not enough families with children (less than 20%) to warrant a replacement, just leave it alone and use the saving to replace our asphalt roads to benefit 100% of our families.

ps: I live across the street from the park & have a pretty accurate view of park useage.

    • Sorry but I don’t agree with you I also live in front of what suppose to be a playground and is daily used by many childrens and families even in the state it was. Im one of the ones using it and i wont loose it for anything else. We have several parking for guests but no amenities and for a community its really strange leaving it like an empty green space. We need to improve the overall look welcoming families and children first and anyway its the only safe place where a person can spend some time without thinking of dangers from traffic.
Its an economic sacrifice that need to be done already from some time like improving the asphalt and maybe installing more lights.

      • Mundy,
Thank you for sharing your views. Please note that you are replying to a neighbors comment. The board is taking bids as stated in the website to replace the playground. Please join us on the next board meeting to be involved in its replacement.

  2. Seems like guest parking is an issue perhaps space can be utilized for more parking.?
I see many homeowners including board members using the guest parking as regular parking, therefore it is full when guests visit.

    • Thank you for sharing. This idea for expanded parking has already been brought up and will be discussed at the next board meeting. Homeowners (without exception) may not utilize guest parking spots as a permanent overnight parking solution. The current rules and regulations are written such that if homeonwers are not able to park all their permanent vehicles in their driveway or garage, they should be looking to sell their surplus vehicle or their home to find a community where they can fit all their vehicles.

Edit to comment on 10/23/18 for added clarification: at no point has the board stated we are removing the playground. As stated in the post, the board is working to replace it. Parking in general will be discussed at the next board meeting. For those commenting, please take respect others views and come join us at the board meeting to participate in the direction of your community.

      • I am sure a happy medium will be found. The sudgestion of selling a home seems a bit harsh. I certainly would not like this as an option after I have made this community my home.

      • We aim to find that happy medium. Some of our Pasadena units may not have the driveway space needed to accommodate the modern home and the growing families that require one vehicle per person.
